On December 13, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gimcheon-si held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of erstanding (MOU) for the construction of a new auto materials plant at the conference room of the Gimcheon City Hall. The ceremony was attended by Gyeongsangbuk-do Vice Government for Economic Planning Jun Woohyun, Gimcheon-si Mayor Kim Chungseob, the CEO of Hyai Global Motors (HGM), the President of ARC Korea, and Gyeongsangbuk-do council members.

In 1998, HGM became the first Korean company to build a plant for commercial vehicles in Vietnam, after which it supplied Hyai Motor Company trucks and buses as an exclusive supplier. By expanding its product lines to include cash transportation vehicles, refrigerator trucks, tank trucks, and military vehicles, the company led the overseas expansion of Hyai’s commercial vehicles. As of the end of 2018, its holds a total asset of KRW 21.8 billion, and earned a total revenue of KRW 94 billion.

Gyeongsangbuk-do has decided to  its capabilities on attracting investments in forward-looking high–value-added industries with growth potential to create jobs in the private sector and boost the local economy. er the decision, the local government has been waging preemptive efforts to grow new industries in response to the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as carbon fiber, titanium, vaccines, new accelerator-d drugs, electric cars, and secondary battery businesses.

Vice Governor Jun Woohyun said, “Gyeongsangbuk-do will direct all its administrative efforts to create new jobs so that no young job seeker leaves the province for the lack of jobs.”

He added, “We will provide our full support to Hyai Global Motors so that it enhances its value in the province and grows into a truly global company.”
