of the brilliant Silla Dynasty, the mysterious culture of Gaya and the Confucian |

culture of the Joseon Dynasty. It is an excellent representative of Korean culture |

because it contains 20% of Korea's cultural assets. |

Gyeongsangbuk-do is the home of loyalty and patriotism. It is also heir to the spirit of |

the "Hwarang" and housed many aristocrats throughout its lengthy history. This spirit |

of patriotism became a stronghold for overcoming national disasters with an |

indomitable spirit emphasizing justice, tenacity and faith. |

Gyeongsangbuk-do has deployed its full strength as the leader of modernization in |

Korea by launching national spirit campaigns, such as Saemaul Undong (a self- |
|
motivational philosophical movement) and a nature preservation movement. |

Gyeongsangbuk-do has also cultivated Pohang and Gumi as international industrial |
|
cities. |

college students in 38 universities, the largest concentration outside of metropolitan |
|
areas. |

include many corporate research institutes. The Techno Park and the Regional |
|
Innovation Research Center are located here. Gyeongsangbuk-do has boundless |
|
potential for growth in the age of information. |
